Suisun City, CA Community Information

Suisun City (pronounced "soo SOON") is a city in Solano County, California, that borders the city of Fairfield with a population around 28,000. The city takes its name from the adjacent Suisun Bay, which in turn is named for the Suisunes, a Native American tribe of the area.

Suisun City embodies a cross-section of the endlessly attractive California lifestyle. The City's 28,000 residents have easy access to Northern California's two major urban centers – the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Capitol region – as well as the Stockton metro area. The residents also enjoy a small-town lifestyle and sensibility often associated with communities in the western breadbasket of the Central Valley.

Suisun City is fast becoming the prosperous waterfront community civic leaders have long-envisioned. Main Street is increasingly vibrant with one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants in historically authentic buildings. Everyday, people are re-discovering Suisun City as a thriving destination for business gatherings, family day-trips, and a singular and relaxing waterfront experience.

The Suisun City Marina was completely rebuilt in 1994 providing 150 rental berthing slips along with a 300 ft. guest dock and free public boat launch ramps at the south end of the marina that provides direct access to the waterways of the California Delta and San Francisco Bay. The slough winds through the Suisun Marsh, which is one of the largest contiguous wetland preserves in the nation. The 84,000-acre marsh, the largest remaining coastal wetland in California, lures nature-lovers, fishermen, hunters, and all categories of boaters.

The Suisun Channel and Marsh boasts outstanding sturgeon and striped bass fishing; excellent sightseeing and bird-watching, and fabulous waters for pleasure boating, cruising, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking or any other water related activity.

The racial makeup of the city is 44% Caucasian, 19% African American, 18% Asian, 18% Hispanic, 1% other.
